Lauren Moore Counselling
compassionate, mindful accompaniment
I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor who believes in the power of connection and compassion. My private practice work focuses on helping people navigate difficult emotions and experiences to find more ease in their daily life.
About Lauren
Woven throughout my professional career is work experience that has focused on helping others. I have a wide range of counselling experiences working with children, families, and adults, including school district counselling positions and time working with Child Youth Mental Health (Cranbrook/Kimberley).
With each client, I aim to build a strong foundation of trust, safety and understanding that fuels the work we do together. In addition to taking the charge out of distressing emotions and past experiences that our bodies can hold onto, my work is influenced by an appreciation of trauma, attachment and human developmental needs.
As an integrative therapist, I use a variety of evidence-based methods to meet client needs. Some of the approaches that clients and I tend to incorporate are:
- emotion-focused therapies
- emotion-focused family therapy
- EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Processing) therapy
- mindfulness, somatic and compassionate focused therapies
- acceptance commitment therapy
- cognitive behaviour therapy
I have lived with type 1 diabetes (T1D) for over 30 years. I struggled with a variety of mental and physical health issues until a counsellor helped me dissolve the emotions I was holding onto since my diagnosis (at age 7). Using EMDR, I was able to reprocess the grief, sadness and overwhelm I had regarding my early T1D experiences. This helped me manage this chronic condition with more ease, acceptance, and self-compassion. I’m grateful that this personal experience inspired my counselling degree, my subsequent EMDR certification, and my overall approach to counselling.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time exploring the outdoors with my family and dog, usually on our skis or bikes!
What can I help with?
Anxiety, depression, relationship distress, conflict, negative core beliefs, emotional distress, phobias, work/family stress and trauma.
I have a special interest in supporting my T1D community. I also incorporate EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy for a wide range of client issues as a way to dissolve the distress resulting from either an ongoing issue/relationship/negative core belief or a traumatic event(s).
Who do I work with?
- Children/teens, with caregiver involvement
- Youth (15+)
- Adults
